In “Third Party”, a sandblasted, black painted mirror depicts an episode from the days of the Buchenwald camp liberation, where residents of Weimar were summoned by the US army to witness the horrors they had until then denied. The Sand Blasting technique which is usually used as a cleaning method etches the image onto the viewers` consciousness in a self-reflective process. The identification of oneself within a dichotomise black and white scale is doomed to fail, as the ground on which one stands is in constant flux.
